I became Headteacher of Oxclose Nursery school in September 2004. I feel very privileged to work with such a dedicated team of staff and governors.
I first started my teaching career in 1992, working as a Year 2, then Reception teacher at Deneside Infant School in Seaham (now Sea View Primary School). I had been a little worried about my move from Year 2 to the Reception class but very soon came to realise that my heart was very firmly rooted in the Early Years. From Seaham, I moved to Tow Law Millennium Primary School where I spent the next five years (from November 1999 to September 2004). Here I worked in classes from Reception to Year 4 and was made Second in Charge. I also studied to gain my NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship). In the summer term of 2004, the most wonderful opportunity arose at Oxclose Nursery. On walking through the front door on my first visit to the school, I knew that Oxclose Nursery was exactly where I wanted to be. Thirteen years later, I am still loving every moment of every day here!
Personally, I am a mum of two girls (19 and 15) who make me very proud every day.
