Grasshoppers – Morning Session

Welcome to Grasshoppers

Our Grasshopper Group is taught by Miss Burton.

The children start the session in their group room. During this session, key workers will explain what is new in the Nursery to look out for, informing the children of focus activities that will be carried out that day. There will be number activities, name recognition activities, singing and some phonics work taking place within this session. At 10.00 am, we have snack in our groups. The children help to prepare the snacks and give out the snack and drinks. It is very much a social gathering where good manners are encouraged and the children are encouraged to try different foods. We end our session each day with a story or music session in our group. In this session, the children are encouraged to listen carefully, join in with parts of the story and answer questions about the story. It is a lovely, calming way to end the session.

At the beginning of the day, parents/carers are asked to make sure they pass over their children safely to a staff member at the main entrance. A staff member will then guide the child to their group room. At the end of the morning we ask that parents/carers wait outside the Main Entrance to collect their child. Once your child has been handed over to you, it is then your responsibility to ensure their safety whilst leaving the premises.
